Casa. Tenho a minha própria casa. Acho que ainda não consigo acreditar bem e só agora, agora que tenho a minha própria casa aqui na Austrália, o meu próprio canto, é que percebo que já não há volta a dar, não há como regressar aos velhos hábitos de faculdade em que partilhávamos a sala, a cozinha e se fosse preciso o quarto com meia dúzia de pessoas. Foram bons hábitos esses e tenho a certeza que fiz amigos para a vida a viver assim. Fui feliz, mas a vida evolui e de repente damos por nós a querer outras coisas, a desejar ter um espaço onde possamos ser nós próprios. A desejar chegar a casa, tirar o sutiã e existir na liberdade de sermos só nós e a (ou as) pessoa (ou pessoas) com quem escolhemos viver a nossa intimidade. Queremos só respirar e ser felizes, sem gestão.
As nossas mudanças começaram devagar. Começámos por encher as primeiras malas com roupas de inverno que não estávamos a usar e, de repente, dois dias depois, já tÃnhamos tudo o que era nosso em caixas e malas espalhadas pelo quarto que nos pertencia (ainda). Há uma semana e um dia, acordámos e enchemos uma carrinha que decidimos alugar para transportar a materialização das nossas vidas até ao nosso novo mundo. No mesmo dia assinámos o contrato de arrendamento e, finalmente, abrimos pela primeira vez a porta daquela que é hoje a nossa casa. Esfrega daqui, lava dali, arruma assim, arranja assado... deu trabalho e não posso dizer que adorei a casa à primeira. É sempre uma luta fazermos nossa a casa que há uma semana era de outra pessoa. Tirar os cheiros, as marcas. Mas conseguimos.

Home. I have my own house. I think I still can’t believe it and only now, now that I have my own home, my own corner here in Australia, I can realize that there is no return, there is no way back to the old habits of college in which we shared the living room, the kitchen and the room if we needed to with half a dozen people. These were good habits and I'm sure I made friends for life living like this. I was happy, but life evolves and we suddenly find ourselves wanting other things, wanting to have a space where we can be ourselves. Wishing to get home, take off the bra and exist in the freedom to be just us and the person (or people) with whom we choose to live our intimacy. We just want to breathe and be happy without management.
Our moving started slowly. We started by stuffing the first suitcases with winter clothes that we were not wearing, and then, two days later, we already had everything that belonged to us in boxes and suitcases scattered around the room that still belonged to us. A week and a day ago we woke up and filled up a van that we decided to rent to transport the materialization of our lives to our new world. On the same day we signed the lease agreement and finally opened for the first time the door of what is now our home. Scrubs from here, washes from there, arranges like that, organizes like this ... it gave us a hard time and I can’t say that I loved the house the first time I got in to it. It's always a struggle to make ours a home that a week before was from someone else. Take away the smells, the marks. But we did.
Aqui, ainda no antigo quarto, em desmontagens. Dica de amiga: quando comprarem coisas do Ikea que impliquem longos processos de montagem, guardem os manuais de instruções, para a eventualidade de precisarem de desmontar os móveis e voltar a montá-los.
Na terça-feira passada corremos ao Ikea para comprar algumas coisas que estavam em falta. Tenho sempre sentimentos dúbios em relação ao Ikea. Se por um lado, quando lá entro, me sinto o Tom de 500 Dias de Summer, cheia de expectativas e com um sorriso na cara de orelha a orelha, por outro saio sempre de lá completamente de rastos, a desejar enfardar três hambúrgueres com tudo. Claro está que chegámos a casa com mais sacos do que imaginámos inicialmente, mas com pedaços da casa que andámos a imaginar durante semanas. Falta-nos o tapete da sala, que estava esgotado.
Para esta casa, para a sala e a cozinha, decidimos desta vez pelo amarelo. Amarelos entre os cinzentos e brancos. No quarto e casa de banho mantivemos o azul claro e o verde-água de antes. Amarelo porquê? Não sei bem. Nunca adorei a cor, mas nestes últimos tempos acho que me fui apaixonando por um certo tom de amarelo que me transmite felicidade e energia.

Last Tuesday we ran to Ikea to buy some things that were missing. I always have mixed feelings about Ikea. If in one hand, when I go in there, I feel like Tom from 500 Days of Summer, full of expectations and with a smile in the face from ear to ear, on the other, I always leave Ikea completely tired, wishing to eat three hamburgers with everything in them.
Of course we got home with more bags than we initially thought, but with pieces of the house we've been imagining for weeks. We’re only missing a rug for the living room, which was out of stock but it’s coming soon.
For this house, for the living room and the kitchen, we decided this time for the yellow. Yellows among the grey and white. In the bedroom and bathroom we kept the light blue and green-water from before. Why yellow? I do not know. I've never loved the colour, but in recent times I think I've fallen in love with a certain tone of yellow that gives me happiness and energy.
Acho que comecei a sentir que a casa número 13 daquele prédio à beira-mar era minha quando nela cozinhei pela primeira vez, um arroz de peixe que é a especialidade do J, mas que por incrÃvel que pareça naquela noite saiu bem nas minhas mãos.
Uma semana depois – ainda sem internet e por isso também tanto tempo ausente sem dar notÃcias, sem tempo para trazer o computador para um local com rede, como hoje – a casa é minha, é nossa. Não é da pessoa que lá vivia há duas ou três semanas. Tem as nossas coisas, a nossa logÃstica. Os nossos cheiros, as nossas velas, as nossas cores e a nossa energia. Tem a nossa coluna e a nossa andorinha. Os nossos livros e as nossas revistas. Tem a nossa mesa na varanda. É pequena, mas acolhe e convida a almoçar, a jantar, a estar, devagar, sem pressa, a observar o mar e os papagaios que se pousam nas grades da varanda, sem fugir, como se nos conhecessem e não tivessem medo de nós.
É uma casa que pede um biquÃni e um cabelo despreocupado.
Agora é viver a casa, devagar, curti-la, e ser feliz.

I think I began to feel that the house number 13 of that beachfront building was mine when I cooked in there for the first time, a fish rice that is J's specialty, but incredible as it may seem that night it came out right in my hands.
A week later - still without internet and therefore also so much time away without giving news, no time to bring the computer to a place with network, as today - it's my house, it's ours. It is not the person who lived there two or three weeks ago. There’s our things, our logistics. Our smells, our candles, our colours and our energy. There's our speaker and our swallow. Our books and our magazines. There's our table on the porch. It is small, but it welcomes and invites people to have lunch, dinner, to be, slowly, without haste, to observe the sea and the parrots that come to the grills of the balcony, without fleeing, as if they knew us and they were not afraid of us.
It's a house that asks for a bikini and a messed hair.
Now it's living the house, slowly, liking it, and being happy.
